Alumni Spotlight








Ashley Rich, a 1982 graduate of St. Luke's Episcopal School, is a proud alumni and the parent of two current SLES students; Ryan Hurt, a fifth grader and Madelyn Hurt, a second grader. Mrs. Rich attended Davidson High School and the University of Southern Mississippi, to which she was awarded a Leadership Scholarship. Upon graduating from USM, she worked as a paralegal for the Mobile law firm of Jackson Taylor and put herself through Law School at Mississippi College School of Law. 


Mrs. Rich served as an Assistant District Attorney in Mobile for fifteen years, trying over 125 jury trials and more than 1000 bench trials. She was a member of the District Attorney Murder Team from 2002 to 2010 and has been a leader of the Drug Prosecution Team and Drug Court Team. She has prosecuted and convicted 5 capital murder defendants in Alabama. In November 2010, Mrs. Rich was elected District Attorney for the 13th Judicial Circuit of the State of Alabama, the second largest circuit in the state. 


She currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Penelope House Domestic Violence Center and is a member of the Underage Drinking Task Force. She was recently selected to receive the Board of Director's 2010-2011 Trial Award for Outstanding Advocacy in Capital Cases by the Association of Government Attorney in Capital Litigation.
